Julia Galvin Visits Venue

We had an unexpected visitor on Sunday last to our humble Monaghan Shores ,hosts of the inaugural Irish Bog Snorkeling Championships in none other than Julia Galvin.Julia is a World Bog Mountain Bike Champion and has made a made for herself in the Wacky World Of Bog Sports.We were delighted to have Julia as she needed a venue to train for her competition in Australia.Julia had a film crew with her and was kind enough to offer us the footage when finished and we will post as soon as we get it.Watch this space

AA 4 Star ****

We at  Alice’s Loft & Cottages are delighted to have been awarded the 4**** star self catering grade last week .We met with AA Ireland 6 weeks ago and upgraded our properties to meet there high standards .We will now be listed on the AA Ireland and AA UK sites and can display there logo on our website.We are the first in Cavan / Monaghan to achieve this standard and hopefully will attract new customers from across the water.

Hi, I have just dabbled in a new Web Browser called Flock, www.flock.com,wich is designed to make it easier to work with social networks,such as Facebook ,Myspace,networking sites like Youtube and helps simplify the process of writing new posts like on this site,www. WordPress.com.In addition it works as a standard web browser ,handles RSS feeds,media files and upload photos.Keep in touch and i will show you how i get on as i come more familiar with the Browser.

Alices loft & Cottages have teamed up with        Swallow Studios

to exhibit their collection of Hand Woven products

Each scarf or throw is special, guaranteed hand-woven in Ireland. As Liz says “ours is an age-old craft with no electric switches, our flying shuttle looms are operated by ‘human’ power alone.  Thread passes through our hands many times in the making of our textiles. We design and prepare the warp, comb it onto the loom, fill bobbins, weave, and tassle and wash…all by hand”

Along with louise loughman’s silk wall hangings ,Liz has displayed a beautiful collection of their art in each of the rooms.The landing in particular has been turned into a Gallery of fine colour inspired by her love of Claude Monet.
